Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer β Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Design, architect, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers. Work within the Acacia mixed-signal IC design group and collaborate with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to integrate AMS blocks into complex ASICs.
This is a hybrid role with three days per week in the San Jose, CA office.
Experience Level
Senior-level. See Education Requirements for required experience alternatives (examples: BSEE +12 years, MS +8 years, PhD +5 years, or equivalent industry experience).
Responsibilities
The role focuses on architecture, design, verification, and production readiness of high-speed AMS blocks on complex chips.
- Architect, design, layout and validate ultra-deep-submicron CMOS AMS circuits for optical transceivers.
- Lead development of a large block on a complex IC, own deliverables and schedules.
- Mentor and review work from junior designers; participate in peer design reviews and drive design methodology.
- Collaborate with package and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop test plans, perform measurements, and support productization from prototype to production.
Requirements
Technical must-haves and preferred skills for successful candidates.
-
Must-have: Design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs in at least three areas such as serial links (SERDES), data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock transmission/propagation, operational amplifiers, programmable gain amplifiers, or equalization.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience developing high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits and taking blocks toward production.
-
Nice-to-have: Electrical transceiver application experience (backplane and cable communications), FinFET process experience, high-frequency layout and passive component design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
-
Nice-to-have: Floorplanning for power/ground and mixed-signal routing, custom transistor layout, design-for-manufacturability, and ESD laboratory methodology.
-
Tools/flows: Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, AMS simulation flows, MATLAB, and EM extraction tools.
Education Requirements
Degree options stated in the posting: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Field of study referenced: Electrical Engineering / analog/mixed-signal engineering. (Equivalent industry experience accepted.)
