Job Title

Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer — Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Lead analog/mixed-signal IC design for high-speed optical transceiver products (100G–1T). Member of the mixed-signal IC design group working on CMOS-based transceivers, collaborating with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams.

This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA (three days per week on site).

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires substantial hands-on experience leading complex analog/mixed-signal IC design projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design, layout, verify, measure and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers.
  • Lead large blocks on complex chips, mentor team members, track deliverables and participate in peer design reviews.
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Develop high-speed AMS circuits (serial links, PLLs, data converters, drivers, equalizers) and ensure manufacturability and production readiness.
  • Establish and apply design methodology from conception through production and support lab measurements and ESD practices.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Hands-on design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs across multiple areas such as serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, opamps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits and performing mixed-signal simulations and verification.
  • Proven ability to lead complex IC design blocks, mentor engineers, and deliver designs from concept to production.
  • Layout and floorplanning experience for mixed-signal chips (power/ground partitioning, digital/analog routing).
  • Experience with manufacturability and ESD laboratory practices.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with FinFET technology and custom transistor layout.
  • High-frequency layout experience for passive components (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
  • Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX and AMS mixed-signal simulation flows.
  • Experience in electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years' experience, or Master’s (MS) with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Fields: electrical engineering or related technical disciplines; equivalent professional experience acceptable.
