Job Title

Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer — Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Member of the mixed-signal IC design team responsible for architecting, designing, laying out, measuring and productizing ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers.

The team works cross-functionally with digital/DSP, system, package and module design groups to deliver ASIC-integrated transceiver products for data center, metro and long-haul networks.

Experience Level

Senior. Expected to lead large blocks, mentor engineers, and own complex designs. Experience guidance provided by the employer: BSEE +12 years, MS +8 years, or PhD +5 years, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include full lifecycle analog/mixed-signal IC design for high-speed optical transceivers and leadership of design workstreams.

  • Architect, design, layout, characterize and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS AMS circuits.
  • Lead a large block on complex chips; mentor and review work of team members; drive deliverables from conception to production.
  • Develop high-speed circuits (serial links, data converters, PLLs, clock distribution, op amps, PGAs, equalizers, drivers).
  • Collaborate with package and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Define and execute lab measurement and validation plans; support qualification and manufacturability efforts.

Requirements

Key technical requirements and preferred skills. Education and degree/experience specifics are listed under Education Requirements below.

  • Must-have: Demonstrated design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs across multiple areas (e.g., serializers/deserializers, data converters, PLLs, drivers, clocking, op amps, PGAs, equalization).
  • Must-have: Proven experience leading complex analog/mixed-signal design blocks and mentoring other engineers.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane, cable communications) and high-frequency layout for passives (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FinFET/process nodes and custom transistor layout; floorplanning for power/ground and analog/digital partitioning.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with ESD lab practices and design-for-manufacturability.
  • Nice-to-have: Tool experience: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX and mixed-signal AMS simulation flows.

Education Requirements

Employer specifies degree-plus-experience combinations: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience; MS (electrical engineering or related) with 8+ years; PhD with 5+ years; or equivalent practical experience. Fields referenced include Electrical Engineering and related technical disciplines.
