Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Join the Mixed-Signal IC design group within Acacia to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS transceiver ICs for high-speed optical communications (100G–1T). The team develops high-speed and high-accuracy analog/mixed-signal blocks that integrate into ASICs and coordinates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams.
Experience Level
Senior — senior IC design role. See Education Requirements for degree/years equivalence and experience expectations.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on end-to-end analog/mixed-signal block delivery and technical leadership on complex chips.
- Architect, design, layout, characterize and productize high-speed CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks.
- Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips; track deliverables and participate in peer reviews.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; establish and enforce robust design methodology from concept to production.
- Collaborate with package and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop and optimize high-speed AMS circuits (SERDES, data converters, PLLs, amplifiers, equalizers) for transceiver applications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven hands-on experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (serializer/deserializer), data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, op-amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Experience with AMS circuit design, high-speed characterization and silicon bring-up.
- Demonstrated ability to lead block-level efforts and to deliver complex IC projects to production.
- Experience collaborating with package, board and system engineers to meet SI/PI requirements and design for manufacturability.
- Nice-to-have: FinFET experience, high-frequency layout (passive components, transmission lines, inductors, transformers), custom transistor layout, ESD lab practices, and mixed-signal simulation skills.
- Nice-to-have tool experience: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX or equivalent tools for design and simulation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years' relevant experience, or Master’s degree with ~8+ years, or PhD with ~5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Fields: Electrical Engineering or closely related technical disciplines. "Or equivalent" experience is explicitly accepted.
