Job Title

Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer β€” Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Lead architect and implementer of high-speed analog and mixed-signal IC blocks for Acacia optical transceivers used in 100G–1T fiber-optic markets. Responsible for design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS circuits and for cross-functional collaboration with digital/DSP, system, packaging and module teams.

Experience Level

Senior β€” senior-level individual contributor and technical lead responsible for complex block delivery and mentoring.

Responsibilities

Deliver analog/mixed-signal IC designs from concept through production and ensure integration into system and package environments.

  • Architect, design, simulate, lay out, test and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS AMS blocks.
  • Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips; track deliverables and participate in peer review.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide design methodology and best practices.
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Develop high-speed serializers/deserializers, data converters, PLLs, regulators, and equalization circuits to meet system targets.
  • Support lab measurement, characterization, and design-for-manufacturability activities through production release.

Requirements

Core technical capabilities required; degree and experience equivalencies are summarized under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Proven design, simulation and measurement experience on high-speed ICs covering at least three areas listed below.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed serial link components: serializers, deserializers, data converters, output drivers, PLLs, clock transmission/propagation.
  • Analog building blocks: op-amps, programmable gain amplifiers (PGAs), voltage regulators, and equalization circuits.
  • Experience with mixed-signal simulation environments (AMS simulations) and circuit-level verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FinFET processes, high-frequency layout (passives, transmission lines, inductors, transformers), custom transistor layout, floorplanning for power/ground and analog/digital isolation, ESD lab practices, and designing for manufacturability.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Cadence (Virtuoso), Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, and EMX is a plus.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience equivalencies specified in the posting: BSEE with 12+ years' relevant experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred fields: Electrical Engineering or closely related technical disciplines. No specific certifications were listed.
