Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Join the Mixed-signal IC design group developing high-speed and high-accuracy analog circuits for optical transceivers (100Gβ1T) used in data center, metro, and long-haul networks. The team collaborates across digital/DSP, system, package, and module design to integrate analog blocks into ASICs.
This role focuses on architecting, designing, laying out, measuring, and productizing ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks for optical transceivers.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Experience guidance available: BSEE with 12+ years, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience β or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include owning complex analog/mixed-signal blocks from concept through production and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Architect, design, lay out, characterize, and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits.
- Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips; track deliverables and drive timelines.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in peer reviews to establish design methodology.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
- Develop high-speed AMS circuits (serial links, data converters, PLLs, equalizers, etc.) and ensure manufacturability and testability.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- Proven design, simulation, and measurement experience of high-speed ICs across multiple areas such as serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, op amps, PGAs, and equalization. (Experience across at least three of these areas is expected.)
- Hands-on experience with high-speed analog/mixed-signal verification and lab characterization.
- Strong layout and floorplanning skills for mixed-signal designs, including power/ground planning and analog/digital isolation.
- Experience designing for manufacturability and understanding of ESD laboratory practices and methodologies.
- Ability to lead cross-functional design reviews and coordinate with digital, package, and system teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and FinFET technologies.
- High-frequency layout experience for passives (inductors, transformers, transmission lines) and custom transistor layouts.
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX and mixed-signal AMS simulation flows.
Education Requirements
BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years β or equivalent practical experience. (These degree-and-experience combinations were specified in the posting.)
