Job Title

Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Senior mixed-signal IC design engineer on the Acacia transceiver team developing high-speed analog and mixed-signal CMOS circuits for optical communications (100G–1T). The role covers architecture, design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep submicron AMS chips and requires close collaboration with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams.

Experience Level

Senior. Experience guidance: PhD + ~5 years, MS + ~8 years, BSEE + ~12 years (see Education Requirements for full details).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities focus on advanced AMS design, leading delivery of complex blocks, and ensuring designs move from concept to production.

  • Architect, design, lay out, measure and productize ultra-deep submicron CMOS AMS circuits for optical transceivers.
  • Lead a large block on complex chips: set technical direction, track deliverables, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Perform and participate in peer design reviews and establish robust design methodologies.
  • Collaborate with packaging, hardware and system teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Develop high-speed circuits (SERDES, PLLs, high-speed drivers, ADC/DACs, equalizers) and validate performance through simulation and lab measurement.
  • Support floorplanning, manufacturability, ESD methodology, and production bring-up activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience (degrees listed separately under Education Requirements).

  • Design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs in at least three areas such as serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
  • Hands-on experience with mixed-signal simulations and measurement workflows.
  • Ability to lead complex analog/mixed-signal blocks and mentor team members.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (digital/DSP, package, system, hardware).
  • Preferred / nice-to-have: experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane/cable), FinFET technology, high-frequency layout and passive component design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines), floorplanning, custom transistor layout, design-for-manufacturability, ESD laboratory practices, and tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX, and AMS mixed-signal simulations.

Education Requirements

Minimum-qualification framework provided by the employer: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. The posting references electrical engineering degrees; equivalent experience in related technical fields is accepted.
