Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Senior mixed-signal IC design engineer on the Acacia team, responsible for architecting, designing, laying out, measuring and productizing ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and high-speed circuits for optical transceivers used in data center and long-haul networks.
The role leads large block designs, coordinates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams, and ensures designs meet signal and power integrity and manufacturability requirements.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience expectations from the posting: BSEE with 12+ years; MS with 8+ years; PhD with 5+ years; or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will lead complex mixed-signal blocks and drive designs from concept to production.
- Architect, design, layout, measure and productize high-speed and high-accuracy AMS CMOS blocks.
- Lead large-block efforts, mentor junior engineers, track deliverables and participate in peer design reviews.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits for transceivers and integrate them into ASICs.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and support validation, test and ESD practices in the lab.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (concise):
- Proven design, simulation and measurement experience for high-speed ICs across multiple areas (see examples below).
- Experience with high-speed serial links: serializers/deserializers and data converters.
- Design experience with voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, and clock distribution.
- Analog building blocks: op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization circuits.
- Hands-on mixed-signal simulation and verification (AMS mixed-signal simulations).
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
- FinFET technology experience and high-frequency layout skills (passives, transmission lines, inductors, transformers).
- Floorplanning for power/ground and digital/analog signal routing; custom transistor layout and DFM experience.
- ESD laboratory practices and methodology.
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX and mixed-signal tool flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years, Master’s degree with ~8+ years, or PhD with ~5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Fields referenced include Electrical Engineering or closely related technical disciplines; the posting allows degree-equivalent experience.
