Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Join the Mixed-Signal IC design group developing high-speed (>25 Gb/s) and high-accuracy analog designs for optical transceivers used in data center, metro and long-haul telecommunications. The team integrates analog designs into ASICs and collaborates closely with digital/DSP, system, package and module design teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: PhD +5 years, MS +8 years, or BSEE +12 years of relevant industry experience (or equivalent practical experience).
Responsibilities
The role leads design work for complex mixed-signal blocks from architecture through production and collaborates across engineering disciplines to meet signal and power integrity targets.
- Architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS mixed-signal ICs for optical transceivers.
- Lead large blocks on complex chips, mentor team members, track schedules and deliverables, and participate in peer reviews.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits and drive designs toward manufacturability and production readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Practical experience with high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuit development, lab validation and measurement.
- Proven ability to take a complex analog block from concept through silicon bring-up and production.
Nice-to-have (preferred) qualifications:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
- Experience with FinFET technologies and high-frequency layout (passives, transmission lines, transformers).
- Floorplanning, custom transistor layout, and design-for-manufacturability experience.
- Familiarity with ESD laboratory practices and mixed-signal simulation tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX or similar).
- Experience with mixed-signal simulations in AMS and electromagnetic extraction workflows.
Education Requirements
Degree or equivalent experience required: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with ~12+ years, Master’s (MS) with ~8+ years, or PhD with ~5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent practical experience. (Source lists degree-based experience combinations and allows equivalent experience.)
