Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Join Acacia's mixed-signal IC design group to architect, design, layout, and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers (100Gβ1T). The team collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to integrate analog blocks into complex ASICs.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting specifies senior experience ranges tied to degree: PhD with 5+ years, MS with 8+ years, BSEE with 12+ years (equivalent experience accepted).
Responsibilities
Lead large-block analog/mixed-signal design efforts from concept to production and collaborate across teams to meet signal and power integrity and manufacturability targets.
- Architect, design, layout, measure and productize analog/AMS CMOS circuits for optical transceivers.
- Lead and mentor engineers; manage deliverables and participate in peer reviews for complex IC blocks.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to ensure signal and power integrity and system-level requirements are met.
- Develop high-speed serial link circuits and high-accuracy analog blocks that meet performance and reliability targets.
- Support tapeout, bring-up, characterization, and production validation activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills listed separately.
-
Must have: Demonstrated design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas:
- High-speed serial links (SERDES, serializers/deserializers, data converters)
- Voltage regulators and output drivers
- Phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock transmission/propagation
- Operational amplifiers, programmable gain amplifiers, equalization
-
Must have: Experience with analog/mixed-signal design flows and verification for ASIC integration (layout, floorplanning, power/ground integrity).
-
Nice to have: Electrical transceiver applications (backplane, cable), FinFET technology, high-frequency layout and passive component design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
-
Nice to have: Custom transistor layout, design for manufacturability, ESD laboratory practices, and mixed-signal simulation tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX).
Education Requirements
Degree requirements: BSEE with 12+ years experience, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years; equivalent practical experience accepted.
