Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Hybrid role on the Mixed-Signal IC design team within Acacia, responsible for architecting and productizing high-speed analog and mixed-signal CMOS transceivers for optical communications. The team collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package, and module groups to integrate designs into complex ASICs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience per posting: BSEE +12 years, MS +8 years, or PhD +5 years, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, layout, verify and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal ICs for high-speed optical transceivers.
- Lead large blocks on complex chips, mentor engineers, track deliverables, and participate in peer design reviews.
- Develop and execute circuit and system-level simulations and laboratory measurements; iterate designs to meet performance and manufacturability targets.
- Collaborate with package and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements and support system integration.
- Establish and apply design methodology from conception through production, including test and characterization plans.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on design, simulation and measurement experience with high-speed ICs across multiple areas such as serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, PLLs, clock transmission/propagation, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization (experience in at least three areas required).
- Proven mixed-signal and high-speed analog circuit design capability, including layout and measurement.
- Experience with mixed-signal simulation tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX or equivalent) and system tools (Matlab); familiarity with EM simulation tools (EMX) preferred.
- High-frequency layout and passive component design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines) and custom transistor layout experience.
- Floorplanning experience for power/ground and mixed-signal routing; design for manufacturability and ESD laboratory practices.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and FinFET technology.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications in the posting: BSEE with 12+ years' experience; or MS with 8+ years' experience; or PhD with 5+ years' experience β or equivalent practical experience. (Degree listed: BSEE; equivalent technical degrees or equivalent experience are acceptable per the posting.)
