Job Title
Senior Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Senior analog/mixed-signal IC design engineer for Acacia transceiver products. Work on high-speed (β25 Gb/s and above) and high-accuracy analog designs used in optical communications ASICs and modules.
Member of a mixed-signal IC design group collaborating with digital/DSP, system, package, and module teams to take designs from concept to production.
Experience Level
Senior. The role expects an experienced engineer; hiring guidance in the posting indicates typical backgrounds of BSEE +12 years, MS +8 years, or PhD +5 years (or equivalent).
Responsibilities
Design, verify, and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC blocks for optical transceivers; lead complex block-level efforts and coordinate cross-functional integration.
- Architect, design, layout, measure and transfer ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS AMS products to production.
- Lead large-block designs on complex chips, mentor engineers, track deliverables, and participate in peer reviews.
- Develop high-speed AMS circuits and architectures that meet system-level requirements for 100G/400G/1T applications.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to ensure signal and power integrity and to perform floorplanning for power/ground and signal routing.
- Support lab characterization, measurement, and debugging; work with manufacturing for design-for-manufacturability.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and practical experience required for successful performance in this role.
- Proven experience designing, simulating, and measuring high-speed ICs across at least three of the following areas: serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock distribution/transmission, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Experience with high-speed serial link and transceiver applications (backplane/cable communications desirable).
- Track record of leading complex analog/mixed-signal block designs and driving them to production, including peer reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
- Hands-on measurement and lab experience for AMS verification and ESD-aware design practices.
- Nice-to-have: experience with FinFET processes, high-frequency passive/component layout (inductors, transformers, transmission lines), custom transistor layout, DFM, and ESD laboratory methodology.
- Nice-to-have tools/flows: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, AMS simulation flows, Matlab, EMX.
Education Requirements
Degree guidance in posting: BSEE with ~12+ years experience, MS with ~8+ years experience, or PhD with ~5+ years experience β all acceptable with equivalent practical experience. Field: Electrical Engineering / relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience.
