Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Senior analog/mixed-signal IC designer on the Acacia mixed-signal design team. The team develops high-speed and high-accuracy analog and mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers used in data center and telecom networks.
This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA (three days per week on-site) responsible for taking complex analog blocks from architecture through production and integration with digital/DSP, packaging, and module teams.
Experience Level
Senior. See Education Requirements for degree and years-of-experience combinations described by the employer.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, simulate, lay out, measure and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers.
- Lead design effort for large blocks on complex chips, mentor engineers, track deliverables, and participate in design reviews.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements and integrate designs into ASICs and modules.
- Develop high-speed AMS circuits and robust design methodologies from concept to production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (non-educational):
- Design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (SERDES, data converters), voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, opamps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Hands-on measurement and lab experience with mixed-signal and high-speed circuits.
- Experience collaborating across digital/DSP, package, and system teams to integrate analog blocks into ASICs and modules.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and FinFET technologies.
- High-frequency layout experience (passive components, transmission lines), custom transistor layout, and floorplanning for mixed-signal chips.
- Experience with design for manufacturability, ESD lab practices, and mixed-signal simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, and EMX.
Education Requirements
Employer specifies degree plus experience combinations: BSEE with 12+ years experience, MS (presumably MSEE) with 8+ years experience, or PhD with 5+ years experience β or equivalent practical experience. Field referenced: Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
