Job Title
Senior Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Senior mixed-signal IC designer on the Acacia team developing high-speed optical transceivers for 100Gβ1T applications. The role leads analog/mixed-signal block design from architecture through silicon bring-up and productionization.
The team focuses on ultra-high-speed and high-accuracy CMOS analog designs that integrate with digital/DSP, package, and module subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience expectations per Cisco: BSEE +12 years, MS +8 years, or PhD +5 years; equivalent practical experience accepted.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include end-to-end analog/mixed-signal block ownership and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Architect, design, layout, and measure ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits.
- Lead large blocks on complex ICs; mentor engineers and track project deliverables.
- Perform peer reviews and establish robust design methodology from concept to production.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
- Drive productization, silicon bring-up, and qualification of mixed-signal blocks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items are listed separately.
-
Must-have: Demonstrated design, simulation, and measurement experience of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (serdes, serializers/deserializers, data converters), voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with layout and silicon measurement for high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits and involvement in productizing silicon designs.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane/cable), FinFET process technology, high-frequency passive design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines), floorplanning, custom transistor layout, design for manufacturability, and ESD lab practices.
-
Nice-to-have: Tool experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX and mixed-signal AMS simulation flows.
Education Requirements
Degree/experience options: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, MS in Electrical Engineering (or related) with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years. Cisco also accepts equivalent practical experience in lieu of the listed degrees.
