Job Title
Senior Analog Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design complex analog integrated-circuit layouts and perform layout verification and validation to meet electrical, performance, and manufacturability requirements. Collaborate with circuit design, process technology, and package teams to deliver analog/mixed-signal blocks.
Drive layout methodologies, optimize layouts for area, power, reliability and performance, and troubleshoot layout and tool/flow issues.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Approximately 6+ years of relevant VLSI/custom analog layout experience is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design complex analog layouts and perform micro-floorplanning and detailed signal planning (shielding, matching).
- Implement and verify floorplans, power grids, ESD structures, and bumps for analog blocks.
- Run and review layout verification tools and checks: DRC, electromigration (EM), IR/voltage drop, antenna rules, and other reliability flows.
- Optimize layouts for area, power, reliability (RV), noise mitigation, and performance.
- Develop and improve analog layout methodologies to raise productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with analog circuit designers, process technology, and package teams to meet specifications and negotiate tradeoffs.
- Troubleshoot layout, tool, flow, and methodology issues impacting design delivery.
Requirements
Core skills and experience:
- 6+ years of analog/custom layout design and layout validation experience with strong VLSI and circuit knowledge.
- Hands-on experience addressing layout validation issues: DRC, density, antenna checks, and reliability verification (RV).
- Experience with high-voltage flows and noise fixes.
- Practical experience with AMS block layouts such as charge pumps, LDOs, VDCs, ADCs or similar.
- Experience with EDA layout tools; Cadence Virtuoso/XL experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Scripting skills (Python, Tcl, or similar) are a plus.
Education Requirements
BE / B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics, Electronics & Communication, VLSI Design, or a closely related technical field.
