Senior Analog Engineer
RenesasJob Title
Senior Analog Engineer
Role Summary
Design, simulate and verify high-precision CMOS analog blocks for custom ASICs with targets for performance, area and power. Typical blocks include DDR I/O (Rx, Tx), PLLs and other mixed-signal analog circuits.
Work on a cross-functional engineering team to integrate analog subsystems with digital and system-level designs.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5β8 years of analog circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, detailed design, verification and documentation of analog blocks, and collaboration to ensure successful integration.
- Architect, design and simulate analog blocks (Rx, Tx, PLLs, bandgap, biasing, etc.) for custom ASICs.
- Develop and optimize high-speed DDR I/O interfaces to meet signal-integrity and timing requirements.
- Design receiver features (CTLE, VGA, DFE, slicer) and transmitter drivers (impedance calibration, linearity, ESD considerations).
- Perform circuit verification and validation through Cadence/Spectre/HSPICE simulations and test plans.
- Ensure designs meet EM/IR/aging reliability requirements and low-power targets.
- Collaborate with digital, system and layout engineers for integration and tapeout readiness.
- Produce and maintain design documentation, specifications and reports.
- Provide guidance on analog layout practices to meet matching and performance targets.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful candidates.
- 5β8 years of analog circuit design experience in CMOS technologies.
- Proven experience with high-speed DDR I/O interface design and optimization.
- Proficiency with analog design and simulation tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, HSPICE, Maestro or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of signal integrity, noise, linearity and analog design methodologies.
- Experience with receiver and transmitter analog building blocks (CTLE, VGA, DFE, drivers, impedance calibration).
- Familiarity with mixed-signal design flows, reliability (EM/IR/aging) and low-power circuit techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Advanced degree in Electronics / Microelectronics Engineering or a related discipline is specified. The posting references a Ph.D. as an alternate path (the posting notes 3β6 years experience for candidates with a Ph.D.).
