Senior Analog Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
Senior Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer on Intel Integrated Photonics Solutions (IPS) designing high-speed analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for silicon photonics optical interconnect products. The role leads block-level circuit architecture and implementation from concept through production and works closely with cross-functional teams including digital design, packaging, and test.
Experience Level
Senior-level. See Education Requirements for the posting's years-of-experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Deliver architecture, design, and validation of high-speed analog/mixed-signal ICs for optical interconnects and support integration into production devices.
- Define circuit architectures to meet power, performance, and functionality targets for next-generation optical links.
- Design, simulate, and validate high-speed, low-voltage, low-power analog and mixed-signal blocks.
- Lead block-level design efforts and collaborate with digital, package, and test teams for full-chip integration.
- Develop post-silicon test and characterization plans and support bring-up and debugging.
- Create and maintain design documentation, specifications, and technical reports; participate in design reviews.
- Balance performance, schedule, and quality objectives throughout the design cycle.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (degree requirements are summarized under Education Requirements).
- Hands-on experience designing high-speed circuit blocks such as amplifiers, drivers, equalizers, PLLs, phase interpolators, and CDR circuits for data rates β₯32 Gbps.
- Experience designing inductors, transmission lines, TIAs, and optical modulator drivers.
- Strong expertise in high-speed serial link design and analog CMOS/BiCMOS circuit design using deep-submicron processes.
- Experience with full-chip integration, ESD considerations, and verification methodologies.
- Ability to plan and execute post-silicon validation and support test setup development and characterization.
- Effective written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Requirements
Nice-to-have / preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with optical communication systems and PAM4/NRZ link architectures.
- Experience developing 400G, 800G, or 1.6T optical links and package-level design/test.
- Experience designing precision analog blocks such as ADCs and DACs.
- Strong understanding of mixed-signal design methodologies and flows.
Education Requirements
Posting requests an M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 4+ years industry experience, or a Ph.D. plus 2+ years industry experience. The posting also states experience may be obtained through a combination of degree, research, prior jobs, or internships (equivalent practical experience considered). Fields referenced include Electrical Engineering and related technical disciplines.
