Senior Algorithm Engineer

Role Summary

Develop image, signal-processing and machine learning algorithms for optical wafer inspection and metrology systems in the Surfscan division. Work across the full algorithm lifecycle from modeling and prototyping to production implementation, characterization and user support.

Senior-level. Experience guidance per minimum qualifications: Doctorate with 0 years experience; Master’s plus ~3 years; Bachelor’s plus ~5 years.

Responsibilities

The role involves algorithm design, integration, testing and cross-functional collaboration. Key responsibilities include:

• Design and implement image and signal-processing algorithms (segmentation, feature extraction, texture analysis).
• Develop and validate machine learning and deep learning models for classification and defect detection.
• Create proofs-of-concept and production-ready software; optimize for CPU and GPU when required.
• Characterize algorithm performance, run experiments, and interpret statistical results.
• Document algorithms, produce reproducible evaluations, and provide user/support documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for prototyping, system integration and testing.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes:

• Strong fundamentals in image processing, signal processing and statistical data analysis.
• Experience with machine learning and deep learning techniques applied to imaging problems.
• Fluent programming skills in C/C++ and MATLAB or Python.
• Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary global teams; strong written and verbal communication.
• Nice-to-have: CPU optimization (SSE/AVX) and GPU programming (CUDA); prior experience in semiconductor inspection or metrology.
