Senior AI/ML - NPU Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Senior software engineer responsible for verification and validation of AI engine / NPU software features on Versal and client devices. The role focuses on developing automated test infrastructure, exercising DSP/ML-intensive algorithms, and ensuring high-quality software releases through cross-team collaboration.

Experience Level

Senior — requires experienced engineer. Typical background in industry: Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years or Master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Accountable for delivering and executing verification and validation plans, building automation, and driving software quality for NPU/AIE technologies.

• Develop and maintain software for verification and validation of AIE/NPU features on Versal and client devices.
• Plan and execute test strategies including automated infrastructure and reduced/smaller design validation.
• Analyze and test complex systems containing DSP/ML-intensive algorithms.
• Perform advanced interactive testing, define quality metrics, and use product-level scenarios to find issues.
• Debug and diagnose hardware/software integration and performance problems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and project managers to drive timely, high-quality releases.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

• Expert in C and C++ with strong object-oriented design skills.
• Proficient in Python and shell scripting for test automation and tooling.
• Experience in software verification and validation for AI accelerators, NPUs, or similar platforms.
• Ability to design and implement automated test infrastructure and reduced-design validation methods.
• Strong debugging and analysis skills across software and hardware boundaries.
• Familiarity with DSP/ML algorithms and ability to validate ML workloads.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with multiple engineering teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with GPU, SIMD, or VLIW processor architectures.
• Familiarity with AI/ML compiler toolchains, graph programming models, and graph optimization techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. The posting indicates preference for a Bachelor’s with 5+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s with 3+ years of relevant experience.
