Semiconductor Manufacturing Engineer (2026 New College Graduate)
Role Summary
Entry-level manufacturing engineering role at GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 9 in Essex Junction, VT. The engineer will support, develop, and improve 200mm semiconductor manufacturing processes to meet production, yield, and quality targets.
Work is cross-functional and hands-on, with responsibilities spanning process optimization, experimental design, and tactical troubleshooting to support customer delivery commitments.
Experience Level
Entry-level - new college graduate. Position is intended for recent graduates; prior industry experience is not required but internships/co-ops are preferred.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive continuous improvement for throughput, cost reduction, and yield.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments to screen and optimize equipment and processes.
- Lead hands-on troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve long-term performance issues.
- Collaborate with technicians and operators to support delivery and quality commitments.
- Work with technology development, integration, characterization, and quality engineering to implement improvements.
- Balance equipment and process considerations to deliver product on time with required quality.
- Apply structured problem-solving methods to complex manufacturing systems.
- Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
- Must-have: English fluency (written and verbal).
- Must-have: Ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting and apply structured problem solving.
- Must-have: Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Nice-to-have: Prior internship or co-op experience in semiconductor or manufacturing.
- Nice-to-have: Demonstrated leadership or project management experience.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Nice-to-have: Strong written/verbal communication and planning/organizational skills.
- Nice-to-have: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and internal/external partners.
Education Requirements
Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited program. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated good academic standing.
