IC CAD Layout Technician
Role Summary
Perform IC CAD layout creation and maintenance to support semiconductor product development and manufacturing release. Work with Design, Process, and Software Engineers to develop, verify, and release GDSII deliverables and tapeout-ready layout databases.
This is an onsite role based in Barcelona, Spain. This position is open only to candidates with legal status to work in Spain.
Experience Level
Support / Entry-level role. Posting indicates 1+ year of semiconductor industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include preparing layout data and deliverables for manufacturing, verifying manufacturability, and maintaining documentation and configuration control.
- Create and maintain IC layout databases using industry-standard EDA tools.
- Generate and validate hierarchical and tiled GDSII layouts for tapeout and manufacturing release.
- Perform design-rule checks (DRC) and verification to ensure adherence to foundry and design requirements.
- Incorporate design, process, and manufacturing changes while maintaining database integrity and version control.
- Prepare and update fabrication, mask, and product documentation; review drawings and BOMs for release packages.
- Investigate and resolve layout, documentation, and data integrity issues discovered during verification or manufacturing review.
- Support tapeout activities, including preparation, validation, and release of manufacturing data packages.
- Coordinate with Design and Process Engineering teams to ensure layout data matches device and process requirements.

Must-have
- 1+ year of experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Ability to manage timelines, work efficiently, and produce accurate deliverables.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data and documentation accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Nice-to-have
- CAD design experience and familiarity with ECAD/EDA tools such as ADS, Altium, Cadence, AWR, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with GDSII databases, hierarchical layouts, tiled GDS generation, and tapeout processes.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing flows and layout verification methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements
Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent relevant experience; the posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of the degree.
