Semiconductor Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and analyze digital and analog circuits for DRAM memory products, including simulation, optimization, floorplanning, and validation. Work with cross-functional teams (Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, Marketing) to ensure manufacturability, reliability, cost, and time-to-market targets.

Primary focus areas include circuit design (digital and analog), DRAM core optimization, layout parasitic modeling, and silicon validation/debug. Position is based in Richardson, TX with the possibility to telecommute part time.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include circuit design, simulation, layout-aware optimization, and validation for DRAM products.

• Design and analyze digital and analog circuits using CMOS logic and transistor-level techniques.
• Simulate, optimize, and floorplan DRAM circuits for placement, routing, and power delivery.
• Design memory core circuits; optimize sense margins, array timings, and die size.
• Perform parasitic modeling and include layout parasitics in simulations.
• Support silicon validation and debug; analyze results for simulation-to-silicon correlation and identify schematic edits.
• Prepare design documentation and collaborate with manufacturing and test teams to address tape-out revisions and reticle experiments.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools relevant to VLSI and memory circuit design.

• Digital design: combinational logic and finite state machines.
• VLSI physical design knowledge, including CMOS layout and optimization techniques.
• Analog circuit design experience.
• HSPICE or Verilog-based simulation skills, including timing analysis and simulation debug.
• Familiarity with computer-aided design schematic capture tools.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
