Job Title

Semiconductor & Chip Design Engineer

Role Summary

Part-time, project-based role to evaluate and improve AI outputs using practical semiconductor and chip design expertise. You will create realistic engineering scenarios, review AI-generated responses for technical correctness and feasibility, and provide structured feedback to improve model behavior.

Work is remote and asynchronous with no fixed schedule or minimum hours.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career. The role requires at least 2 years of hands-on chip design or semiconductor industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing test problems and assessing AI responses against real engineering practice.

  • Create expert-level engineering problems and scenarios grounded in real chip design, verification, and tape-out workflows.
  • Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, practical feasibility, and alignment with standard engineering workflows.
  • Provide clear, structured written feedback to help researchers improve model performance.
  • Document recurring errors and practical failure modes observed in AI outputs.
  • Complete assigned tasks asynchronously at your own pace; this is ongoing, project-based work.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, plus desirable tools experience.

  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on chip design or semiconductor industry experience.
  • Practical depth in one or more areas: VLSI design, digital or analog chip design, EDA tooling, semiconductor fabrication, or formal verification.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Nice-to-have: proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso/Innovus, Synopsys Design Compiler, Mentor Calibre, Verilog/SystemVerilog, ModelSim, Vivado, or Quartus.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering preferred. A BS in EE/ECE is acceptable when paired with strong industry experience. Equivalent practical experience in chip design or semiconductor engineering is also considered.
