Job Title

Senior Staff Application Engineer

Role Summary

Lead evaluation and development of high-performance DC/DC power conversion solutions for AI and high-performance computing platforms. Work cross-functionally with systems, IC design, packaging and marketing to translate system requirements into silicon product definitions and validated converter implementations.

Contribute across architecture exploration, proof-of-concept hardware, simulation/modeling, laboratory characterization and product specification to improve power density, reliability and scalability.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. Requires 10+ years of relevant experience in power conversion, power management, semiconductor applications or related system design.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across power architecture, converter design, validation and product definition.

  • Define and evaluate next-generation power conversion architectures for AI and HPC systems.
  • Lead topology studies, proof-of-concept development and technology pathfinding for high-performance DC/DC converters.
  • Develop detailed electrical and system-level models (e.g., using SIMPLIS) and correlate simulation with bench measurements.
  • Translate system and customer requirements into device-level specifications for new silicon products.
  • Plan and execute converter characterization, data collection, analysis and performance tuning.
  • Develop automated measurement and validation setups to improve repeatability and data quality.
  • Guide schematic and PCB implementation with focus on placement, power-stage layout, signal integrity, thermal performance and manufacturability.
  • Customize solutions for customer applications and communicate technical findings to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

Core technical and practical skills required to execute advanced converter development and product definition.

Must-have:

  • 10+ years of experience in power conversion, power management, semiconductor applications or related system design.
  • Proven experience in design, modeling, development and laboratory validation of high-performance power converters (low- and high-voltage domains).
  • Deep understanding of control-loop design, stability analysis, transient response and implementation constraints.
  • Solid knowledge of resonant and non-resonant converter topologies and system-level topology trade-offs.
  • Experience with magnetic component selection/design and its impact on switching frequency, efficiency, thermal performance and power density.
  • Ability to move from concept and simulation to hardware implementation, measurement and product definition.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead technical cross-functional work.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with power delivery for AI accelerators, data-center platforms or other high-current digital loads.
  • Knowledge of multiphase buck converters, point-of-load regulation and high-current power stages.
  • Familiarity with SIMPLIS or equivalent simulation tools and Python or similar for measurement automation and data processing.
  • Experience in semiconductor product definition and customer-facing technical support.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a closely related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
