Job Title

Security System Test Engineer

Role Summary

The Security System Test Engineer will develop and execute hardware and software test solutions that validate security architecture, support product security certifications, and enable secure product delivery across Qualcomm platforms (mobile, compute, automotive, IoT, wearables, XR/VR).

You will join the Hardware Security Team and work with architects, hardware designers, production test engineers, security analysts, and certification engineers to build test benches, automation, and software vectors used for security evaluations and certifications.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career. Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor's + 2 years ASIC/design/verification/validation/integration experience, or Master's + 1 year, or PhD.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on test methodology, platform assembly, automation, and test vector development to support security certification and product validation.

  • Design and implement scalable test methodologies, test benches, and automation tools for security certifications (FIPS, SESIP, Common Criteria, GlobalPlatform, EU CRA).
  • Develop low-level software test vectors and firmware to exercise SoC security features and initialization paths.
  • Assemble and maintain test platforms and lab automation to collect characterization data across environmental ranges.
  • Debug hardware/software interactions to triage and isolate faults; use trace and debug tools as needed.
  • Integrate test solutions across chipset families and ensure repeatability across platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate security architecture and produce certification artifacts and documentation.

Requirements

Core technical skills and team abilities required; preferred skills listed separately.

Must-have:

  • Low-level software development experience in C, C++, and Assembly.
  • Knowledge of ARM and/or RISC-V processor architectures.
  • Experience with source control (GIT, Perforce) and defect tracking tools (JIRA, CQ).
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams; good communication skills.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

  • Experience developing and maintaining software test vectors and porting across chipset families.
  • Familiarity with operating system principles, multi-threaded and multi-core software behavior.
  • Experience with Lauterbach Trace32 or similar debug trace tools and script-based debug workflows.
  • Experience creating lab instrument automation, large-scale characterization data collection, and environmental test coverage.
  • Knowledge of security protocols (hashing, symmetric/asymmetric cryptography) and security certification processes.
  • Experience working on Automotive, Mobile, Compute, IoT, or XR/VR platforms.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field (with 2+ years relevant experience), or a Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field (with 1+ year relevant experience), or a PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field.
