Security & Access Control Engineer / Lead
QualcommJob Title
Security & Access Control Engineer / Lead
Role Summary
Design and integrate security and access-control features across SoC hardware, firmware, and system software for mobile, automotive, IoT and related platforms. The role combines hands-on architecture and implementation work with cross-functional technical leadership to close security issues and ensure compliance across product lifecycles.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant experience in security architecture, access control, or embedded systems (job description references 7–10+ years).
Responsibilities
Accountable for architecture, implementation, integration, and closure of security features at hardware and system levels.
- Design hardware-assisted access control at block, core, and SoC levels.
- Perform SW/HW co-design for secure architectures, including secure debug interfaces (e.g. JTAG, ARM Coresight).
- Act as primary technical contact for security features and SoC integration issues; drive issues to closure and support provisioning flows.
- Run and coordinate security reviews, track and close action items using JIRA or equivalent workflows.
- Analyze and mitigate security vulnerabilities in hardware and software implementations; produce technical documentation and responses to customer queries.
- Develop and maintain access-control policies and standards across platforms.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate effectiveness in the role.
- 7–10+ years of hands-on experience in security architecture, access control, or embedded systems.
- Deep knowledge of computer architecture and hardware-assisted access control mechanisms.
- Practical experience with mobile platform security areas: Secure Boot, Secure Storage, Secure Debug, DDR protection.
- Experience with ARM TrustZone, virtualization technologies, OS and hypervisor security.
- Proficient programming skills in C/C++ and Python; familiarity with RTL design flows.
- Experience with provisioning flows/processes and issue tracking (JIRA) for security features.
Nice-to-have
- ARM SoC security design experience and applied cryptography/trusted computing knowledge.
- FPGA/ASIC design experience (SystemVerilog, VHDL, Verilog); knowledge of side-channel mitigations and AI/ML security considerations.
- Familiarity with memory/storage technologies (DDR4/DDR5, eMMC, UFS) and IoT security/compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is specified. The posting also lists alternatives and equivalencies: a Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of systems engineering experience, a Master’s degree plus 2+ years, or a PhD plus 1+ year.
