RTL2GDS IC Sr. Principal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical leadership for Cadence Digital IC products, focusing on digital implementation and signoff at advanced technology nodes. Work with customers and R&D to solve implementation challenges, run evaluations and benchmarks, and drive tool adoption.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 10β12 years of industry experience in digital design and EDA (Digital Implementation/Signoff).
Responsibilities
Work with customers and internal teams to enable successful digital IC implementations and tool adoption.
- Provide technical support in synthesis, place-and-route, design closure, and timing/power signoff.
- Advise customers on Cadence workflows and best practices to meet project schedules.
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations.
- Plan and execute technical evaluations and benchmarks.
- Collaborate with R&D to improve tools and methodologies.
- Automate and augment flows using Tcl and other scripting to improve results.
- Capture best practices from engagements and document lessons learned.
- Mentor junior engineers and support process-improvement business cases.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for success in this role.
- Hands-on experience with place-and-route tools (Innovus, ICC2, Fusion Compiler).
- Experience with synthesis tools (Genus, RTL Compiler, Design Compiler).
- Experience with STA tools and strong SDC and STA debugging skills.
- Familiarity with low-power analysis and clock design/analysis; experience at 7nm/5nm is a plus.
- Automation skills using Perl, Tcl and shell scripting.
- Strong analytical skills in digital implementation.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments and strong customer interaction and presentation skills.
- Experience driving adoption of EDA tools and developing technical evaluations/benchmarks.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent practical experience - the posting notes 10β12 years of industry experience in design and EDA (Digital Implementation/Signoff) may be considered in place of a degree.
