RTL Design (Turing) - Senior Engineer
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design (Turing) - Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Design, verify, and integrate RTL and related hardware components for the Turing platform. Work on planning, optimization, verification, and bring-up of digital hardware, FPGA/DSP systems, test systems and associated measurement and test flows.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, systems and architecture) to deliver products that meet performance, power, area, reliability, and manufacturability targets.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Qualcomm lists preferred experience of 3+ years in hardware engineering; minimum experience requirements vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities for the role include:
- Plan, design, simulate, verify, and test electronic systems and RTL implementations with attention to power, performance, and area.
- Integrate features and functionality into hardware designs according to requirements and roadmaps.
- Perform simulations and analyses; implement designs using best trade-offs for power, performance, and area.
- Characterize and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to meet product schedules and customer expectations.
- Use schematic capture and circuit simulation tools to validate designs and debug issues.
- Use hardware design and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools) for verification and validation.
- Collaborate with verification, validation, software, and architecture teams to incorporate requirements and test solutions.
- Produce detailed technical documentation and communicate results to stakeholders.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
-
Must-have:
- Hands-on experience with circuit/RTL design and schematic-capture and circuit-simulation tools (2+ years preferred).
- Experience using hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools) for design validation (2+ years preferred).
- Experience with FPGA, DSP, or test-system development and bring-up.
- Proven ability to perform simulations and design analyses focused on power, performance, area, and reliability.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills; ability to work independently and make decisions affecting broader workgroups.
-
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Cadence tools and hardware architecture design.
- Experience with wireless protocols or Bluetooth-related hardware (listed among common skills for similar hires).
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify one of the following: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of hardware-engineering or related work experience; OR a Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR a PhD in those fields. Preferred qualifications list a Master's degree and 3+ years of hardware-engineering experience. "Related field" is accepted in the original posting.
