RTL Design (Sr Staff)
Role Summary
The Senior Staff RTL Design engineer will plan, design, optimize, verify, and bring up complex RTL/ASIC/FPGA hardware systems. The role partners with verification, validation, software, and architecture teams to meet targets for power, performance, area, reliability, and manufacturability.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: 6+ years in hardware engineering is common; many successful candidates have 10+ years and prior technical leadership experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading RTL and system-level hardware design and enabling production-ready solutions.
- Lead and execute RTL and logic design, optimization, and verification for complex ASIC/FPGA systems.
- Develop and run advanced simulations and analyses to meet power, performance, and area objectives.
- Implement and refine design rules and processes; evaluate manufacturing solutions and improve yield.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate requirements and improve test coverage, yield, and quality.
- Characterize reliability and evaluate materials, techniques, and test equipment for production readiness.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship; author and review technical documentation.
- Debug bring-up and validation issues using lab instrumentation and measurement tools.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience for the role.
- Extensive hardware engineering experience focused on RTL and logic design/validation.
- Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and RF test tools.
- Strong simulation, analysis, and system-level debugging skills for digital/analog/RF or mixed-signal designs.
- Proven ability to collaborate with software, verification, validation, and architecture teams.
- Track record of technical leadership on complex hardware projects and mentoring junior engineers.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (with ~6+ years of relevant experience); OR a Master's in those fields (with ~5+ years); OR a PhD (with ~4+ years). Preferred: Master's degree. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
