QualcommJob Title
RTL Design (SoC) Engineer - Staff
Role Summary
Member of the Compute Solutions Group (CSG) focused on Data Center SoC innovation for Qualcomm's Dragonfly rack-scale AI platform. Responsible for RTL/front-end SoC design and delivering production-ready blocks that meet architecture, verification, synthesis, and timing-closure requirements.
Works across architecture, micro-architecture, verification, synthesis and timing closure to integrate IP, plan front-end tasks, and implement high-speed serial I/O and related subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior level — typically requires 8+ years of proven SoC development and full-chip design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement RTL for high-speed serial I/O protocols and related controllers.
- Develop clock-rate compensation FIFOs, gearbox logic for data-width conversion, bypass logic, and power-gating/low-power modes.
- Plan and manage front-end design tasks and IP dependencies across the SoC.
- Collaborate with architecture and micro-architecture teams to meet performance and timing targets.
- Work with verification and synthesis teams to achieve timing closure and production readiness.
- Review high-level test plans and coverage metrics; support system-level integration and validation.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and mentors/junior engineers as needed.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 8+ years of SoC development experience, including full-chip design and RTL implementation.
- Strong knowledge of bus protocols such as AHB and AXI, and experience with peripherals like PCIe, USB, Ethernet.
- Proven experience designing or integrating high-speed serial I/O blocks and controllers.
- Experience managing IP dependencies and planning front-end design schedules.
- Ability to review test plans and coverage metrics and apply results to design improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with memory controller designs and microprocessor integration.
- Prior work on rack-scale or data-center SoC platforms.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science Engineering, or a related engineering field.
