RTL Design (Peripheral) - Sr Staff
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design (Peripheral) - Sr Staff
Role Summary
Senior hardware engineer responsible for RTL and peripheral hardware design, verification, and bring-up for advanced ASIC/SoC products. Works with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, architecture) to meet power, performance, area, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior level (Sr Staff). Experience guidance noted in Education Requirements; typically multiple years of hardware engineering experience at a senior individual-contributor level.
Responsibilities
Accountable for advanced RTL/hardware design, verification, and production bring-up; provides technical leadership and guidance to other engineers.
- Plan, design, optimize, verify, and test critical electronic systems including digital/analog/RF/optical subsystems, FPGA and DSP systems.
- Lead or participate in implementation of advanced design rules, processes, simulations, and analyses to achieve best power, performance, and area.
- Evaluate, characterize and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to improve yield, test time, and product quality.
- Use and evaluate hardware design, measurement, and test instruments; integrate test solutions into production programs.
- Advise and mentor engineers; review and produce detailed technical documentation for complex hardware projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate new requirements and improve test and validation strategies.
- Make decisions that affect work beyond the immediate group; influence organizational technical direction.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred for successful performance in this role.
- Must-have: Several years of hands-on hardware engineering experience; demonstrated ability in RTL/circuit design, validation, and complex simulations.
- Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools and with hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, RF tools).
- Proven ability to evaluate reliability, manufacturing impacts, and to optimize designs for yield and testability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience producing and reviewing technical documentation.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers; prior technical leadership experience preferred.
- Nice-to-have: Extensive senior-level hardware design experience (lead roles), deep expertise in specific analog/RF or digital subsystems, or hands-on production bring-up in advanced process nodes.
Education Requirements
Degree and years guidance: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 5+ years of experience; OR PhD in those fields with 4+ years of experience. Preferred: Master's degree. Equivalent related work experience is acceptable as noted in the minimum qualifications.
