RTL Design (NoC) - Sr Staff Engineer
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design (NoC) - Sr Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Technical lead responsible for architecting, implementing and delivering complex coherent Network-on-Chip (NoC) IP for large SoCs across mobile, IoT, compute, automotive and server product lines. The role requires cross-team collaboration with SoC, core IP and silicon bring-up teams to validate functionality and drive delivery.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting targets experienced engineers (recommended 10+ years of RTL/NoC design experience); minimum qualification levels vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leadership of NoC IP development, verification, and delivery across complex SoCs.
- Architect and design coherent NoCs and interconnects for large SoCs.
- Develop and review RTL implementation; ensure code quality and performance.
- Debug functional and timing issues; lead design/verification debug activities.
- Coordinate CDC, synthesis and DFT requirements with downstream teams.
- Work with silicon bring-up and validation teams to verify silicon functionality.
- Drive cross-team integration with core IP and SoC subsystems.
- Deliver design milestones and ensure IP meets performance, area and power targets.
- Mentor and guide engineers on design and verification best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed when applicable.
- Must-have: Significant hands-on RTL design and RTL coding experience on NoC or interconnect IP.
- Must-have: Design and debug experience with verification methodologies and design-for-test (DFT) considerations.
- Must-have: Expertise in clock domain crossing (CDC) issues, synthesis and timing closure practices.
- Must-have: Experience engaging with silicon bring-up, validation and cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
- Must-have: Strong analytical problem-solving and system-level architecture skills for high-complexity SoCs.
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience across product segments (mobile, IoT, compute, automotive, servers) and coherent NoC implementations at scale.
Education Requirements
One of the following is expected: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field plus 6+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 5+ years' experience; OR PhD in those fields plus 4+ years' experience. Equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree is commonly accepted per the posting language.
