Job Title

RTL Design Lead - IP Design

Role Summary

Lead a front-end IP design and integration team for SoC subsystems within the Computing and Graphics group, partnering with architecture, verification, implementation, physical design and product teams to achieve first-pass silicon success.

Experience Level

Senior. Candidates are expected to have extensive IP hardware design and team leadership experience (guidance: 10+ years in industry; see Education Requirements for degree-linked experience expectations).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on RTL/IP design, integration, quality checks, and cross-team collaboration to deliver production silicon.

  • Design IP and subsystems and integrate AMD and third-party IPs into SoC subsystems.
  • Perform quality checks including lint, CDC, and power-rule checks for power-gated digital designs.
  • Support design verification and implementation (synthesis, constraints, static timing analysis) and handoff to SOC teams.
  • Collaborate with SoC teams on connectivity, DFT, verification, physical design, firmware, and post-silicon bring-up.
  • Lead and mentor engineers, coordinate with multi-level, geographically distributed teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical and professional qualifications for the role. Education degree details are listed under Education Requirements.

  • Proven experience leading RTL/IP design teams and delivering SoC subsystem IPs.
  • Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL design for high-speed, multi-clock digital designs.
  • Experience with Verilog lint and simulation tools (example: Spyglass, VCS) and CDC analysis tools.
  • Practical knowledge of SoC design flows, synthesis, constraints, and static timing analysis.
  • Familiarity with IP power management techniques (power gating, clock gating) and power-aware design flows.
  • Experience integrating with DFT, firmware, and post-silicon bring-up activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with embedded processors, data-fabric/NoC architectures, and multi-clock domain designs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 12 years of full-time IP hardware design experience, or Master's degree plus 8 years of full-time IP hardware design experience (as stated in the posting).
