RTL Design (Infra/NOC/SMMU/DDR/Peripherals)
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design (Infra/NOC/SMMU/DDR/Peripherals)
Role Summary
Qualcomm is hiring an IP Design Engineer to lead microarchitecture and RTL design for complex on-chip IP blocks (infrastructure, NOC, SMMU, DDR, peripherals). The role focuses on delivering high-quality, synthesizable RTL, meeting performance and area targets, and driving design closure through synthesis and PLDRC flows.
The engineer will work within a hardware engineering team and collaborate with verification, validation, software and architecture teams to integrate IP into SoC designs.
Experience Level
Mid-level (typical range 3–15 years of IP/hardware design experience; individual role expectations vary by seniority).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include architecture and RTL delivery, ensuring design quality, and cross-team integration.
- Lead ground-up microarchitecture and RTL design for complex IP blocks (Infra, NoC, SMMU, DDR, peripherals).
- Define and implement design specifications in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Drive synthesis, PLDRC, and timing closure to meet PPA targets.
- Develop and maintain design documentation and implementation guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex design and integration issues.
- Participate in verification/validation activities and handoff to bring-up teams.
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers and contribute to design reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proven experience in microarchitecture and RTL design for complex IPs.
- Hands-on experience with AMBA or PCIe protocols.
- Proficiency with PLDRC and synthesis flows and tools.
- Experience with design verification and validation methodologies.
- Strong digital design fundamentals and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with ASIC design flows and industry-standard EDA tools.
- Scripting skills (e.g., Python) for automation.
- Experience with version control systems (Git, ClearCase).
- Experience with circuit/logic design, measurement instruments, or technical leadership roles is beneficial.
Education Requirements
Degrees: Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor's + 6 years experience OR Master’s + 5 years experience OR PhD + 4 years experience. Preferred: Master’s degree and senior-level experience (examples included 12+ years in preferred qualifications).
