RTL Design Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
RTL Design Engineer responsible for RTL design and SoC integration of subsystem IP (processor peripherals and interconnect). The role sits in the Product organization and delivers end-to-end subsystem IP from concept through production.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 4–5 years of relevant SoC/RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute to design, integration and delivery of IO/peripheral subsystems for processor-based SoCs.
- Design RTL for IO peripheral subsystems targeting ARM and RISC-V processor subsystems.
- Integrate and validate protocols such as UFS, SDIO, Octal SPI and commonly used buses (e.g., AXI).
- Drive subsystem IP and SoC design collateral from concept to production, including constraints and RTL quality checks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (verification, physical design, firmware, system integration).
- Deliver projects on schedule while meeting quality and production requirements.
- Provide technical solutions and present microarchitecture and design trade-offs to stakeholders.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required for the role. Degree information is listed under Education Requirements.
- 4–5 years demonstrated experience in SoC RTL design focused on subsystem/IP development.
- Proven expertise in microarchitecture and ability to present design decisions.
- Strong understanding of RTL quality checks, timing/constraints, and subsystem-level integration requirements.
- Experience integrating peripheral protocols and interconnects (AXI, UFS, SDIO, Octal SPI preferred).
- Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; able to design performance experiments and debug complex issues.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to drive technical initiatives across teams.
- Nice to have: prior role as IP lead or direct SoC integration ownership delivering production silicon.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
