RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
The RTL Design Engineer will design, implement, integrate, and verify digital RTL IP and SoC microarchitecture components within Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering organization. The role focuses on delivering RTL for digital blocks, integrating IP into large-scale SoCs, and supporting verification and bring-up activities.
Experience Level
Entry-level; typically requires around 2+ years of relevant hardware/RTL design or related engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and implement RTL for digital IP following microarchitecture specifications.
- Define and refine SoC microarchitecture interfaces and block-level architecture.
- Implement and verify clocking, reset, and related control structures.
- Integrate IP using common interconnect protocols (AHB, AXI) and participate in SoC integration.
- Address PLDRC and CDC issues arising during integration and signoff.
- Collaborate with verification, bring-up, and cross-functional teams to resolve integration and performance issues.
- Optimize designs for area, power, timing, and testability; produce design documentation and reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical RTL design experience on digital IP and SoC blocks.
- Knowledge of digital IP architecture and SoC microarchitecture.
- Experience with clock and reset design and related verification concerns.
- Familiarity with interconnect protocols such as AHB and AXI.
- Experience with SoC integration activities, including identifying and resolving integration issues.
- Experience working on large-scale SoC projects and integration aspects.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FPGA prototyping, verification flows, or bring-up support.
- Exposure to signoff flows and physical-design-related verification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of hardware engineering or related experience; OR a Master's degree in the same fields with 1+ year of related experience; OR a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
