Engineering Intern - Digital IP and Integrated Circuit Design (F/M)
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Engineering Intern - Digital IP and Integrated Circuit Design (F/M)
Role Summary
Six-month final-year engineering internship in the Digital Design team at NXP's Toulouse design center. The intern will work on digital IP and integrated-circuit functions for Battery Management Systems (BMS) and related automotive power-management features.
Primary mission: research existing BMS solutions, implement synthesizable RTL, verify IP with simulation and formal assertions, and produce RTL design documentation and an integration guide for SoC use.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for final-year engineering students (end-of-study) seeking a 6-month industrial placement in digital/microelectronics design.
Responsibilities
The intern will execute the following tasks under team supervision:
- Analyze existing BMS IP solutions and propose an implementation approach.
- Implement the chosen solution in synthesizable Verilog (RTL) following coding, timing and testability rules.
- Use synthesis and simulation tools to validate timing, power, area and placement constraints.
- Develop a SystemVerilog testbench and run simulations across configurations; write assertions for formal verification.
- Prepare documentation that justifies RTL design choices and provides an integration guide for SoC integration.
Requirements
Key technical skills and expectations. Education degrees are summarized separately below.
- Must-have: RTL coding and design experience (VHDL or Verilog) and familiarity with SystemVerilog testbenches.
- Must-have: Knowledge of ASIC verification flows, logic synthesis and simulation tools.
- Must-have: Basic understanding of formal verification and ability to write assertions.
- Must-have: Scripting experience (Tcl, Python, shell) to automate tool flows and tests.
- Must-have: Good English for collaboration in an international, multi-site team.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with C or SystemC, knowledge of SoC integration and DFT concepts.
Education Requirements
Final-year engineering student level (Bac +5) / Master of Engineering preferred; degrees in microelectronics, digital design, electronic engineering or closely related fields (BSEE/MSEE or equivalent) are specified.
