Job Title

RTL Design (DDR) - Senior Engineer

Role Summary

Design, optimize, verify, and test RTL and hardware related to DDR interfaces and supporting subsystems. Work within the Hardware Engineering team to integrate features, perform simulations, and support bring-up, characterization, and manufacturing solutions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Preferred experience is 3+ years in hardware engineering or related roles; specific minimum experience varies by degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Key duties include design, verification, characterization, and cross-functional execution to deliver hardware that meets power, performance, area, and quality targets.

  • Plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems and RTL for DDR and related blocks.
  • Integrate features and functionality into hardware designs according to specifications and roadmaps.
  • Conduct simulations and analyses to achieve optimal power, performance, and area trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, and architecture teams to implement requirements and test solutions.
  • Support product bring-up, yield improvement, and production test solutions.
  • Evaluate materials, components, and manufacturing techniques for reliability and manufacturability.
  • Identify design compatibility or compliance issues and assist in risk mitigation.
  • Write detailed technical documentation for hardware projects.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience relevant to RTL/hardware design and verification.

Must-have:

  • Practical hardware engineering experience in RTL and system-level hardware development.
  • Experience with circuit design (digital, analog, or RF) and circuit simulation tools.
  • Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation software.
  • Experience using hardware design and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
  • Experience with FPGA or DSP-based systems and test setups.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and verbal/written communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in yield analysis, manufacturing characterization, automation, or test-time optimization.
  • Experience specifically with DDR PHY, memory interfaces, or related subsystems.
  • Experience integrating designs across multi-disciplinary teams (software, validation, architecture).

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications specify one of the following education/experience combinations: a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of hardware-engineering or related experience; OR a Master’s degree in those fields plus 1+ year of hardware-engineering or related experience; OR a PhD in those fields (no minimum experience specified). Preferred: Master’s degree and typically 3+ years of hardware engineering experience; additionally, preferred experience includes ~2+ years in circuit design, schematic/simulation tools, and hardware measurement instruments.
