Job Title

RTL Design (Audio) - Sr Engineer

Role Summary

Senior RTL design engineer on the Hardware Engineering team focused on audio subsystems. Own RTL design, integration, verification support, and production bring-up for audio hardware blocks and related interfaces.

The role collaborates with verification, validation, software, systems and architecture teams to meet power, performance, area, quality, and yield targets for shipping silicon.

Experience Level

Senior. Preferred experience in hardware/RTL design and verification; role expects independent work, technical decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration. Typical hires have multiple years of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

The engineer will design, analyze, integrate, and support hardware/RLT subsystems through design, validation, and production stages.

  • Plan, design, optimize, verify and test RTL and associated electronic systems for audio functionality.
  • Integrate features into hardware designs according to roadmaps and proposals.
  • Perform simulations and analyses to meet power, performance, and area targets; implement appropriate design trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, and systems teams to implement requirements and test solutions.
  • Support product bring-up, yield improvement, and test-time/quality optimization for manufacturing.
  • Evaluate reliability of materials, components, and techniques; propose automation and optimization to improve productivity.
  • Assess complex design features for flaws, compatibility, and compliance issues.
  • Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for projects.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience expected for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with hardware/RTL design and hardware bring-up; ability to perform simulations and characterize designs.
  • Must-have: Experience using schematic-capture and circuit simulation tools, and familiarity with hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
  • Must-have: Proven ability to collaborate across design, verification, validation, software and systems engineering teams.
  • Must-have: Strong technical writing and documentation skills; ability to work independently and make decisions that affect broader work groups.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience specific to audio IP/blocks, FPGA or DSP systems, or prior production silicon bring-up and yield-improvement projects.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with automation, test systems, and manufacturing characterization.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field (with 2+ years hardware engineering experience), OR Master's degree in the same fields (with 1+ year experience) OR PhD in a related field. Preferred: Master's degree. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where noted.
