RTL Design and Verification Engineer
Apex InformaticsJob Title
RTL Design and Verification Engineer
Role Summary
The RTL Design and Verification Engineer develops and verifies RTL implementations for digital ASIC/FPGA projects. Works with architecture and design teams to define micro-architecture, produce verification plans, and validate functionality across power and clock domains.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typical candidates meet the advertised education/experience guidelines: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years' relevant experience or a Master's in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years' relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover RTL implementation, verification, low-power integration, and validation across the design flow.
- Define micro-architecture and translate features into RTL code.
- Create and maintain verification plans and functional test benches.
- Model and test circuits using Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Perform logical equivalence verification between schematic/netlist and RTL.
- Author UPF and apply low-power techniques for multi-power-domain designs.
- Identify and mitigate clock domain crossing issues.
- Implement Design for Test (DFT) strategies and use register description languages.
- Generate test patterns and vectors; run gate-level simulations (GLS).
- Apply formal equivalence verification (FEV) as part of the validation flow.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and hands-on experience:
- Proven experience in logic/RTL design and validation.
- Strong Verilog and SystemVerilog coding and verification skills.
- Experience creating test benches and generating test vectors.
- Experience with UPF and low-power design techniques.
- Knowledge of clock domain crossing and DFT principles.
- Experience with formal equivalence verification (FEV) and gate-level simulation (GLS).
- Familiarity with register description languages.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years' relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 2+ years' relevant experience.
