Job Title

Principal Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead digital architecture, design, verification, and implementation for mixed-signal Power Management ICs (PMICs) targeting automotive and industrial markets. Drive product development from concept through RTL, silicon validation, qualification, and production release.

Work cross-functionally with analog, verification, validation, subsystem, SoC, applications, systems, product, and customer teams to deliver robust PMIC solutions.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 12 years of experience in digital IC design and development with technical leadership and architecture responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include ownership of digital architecture, RTL delivery, verification, and silicon bring-up for PMIC and power-conversion products.

  • Review requirements and define digital IP and system-level architectures for mixed-signal PMICs.
  • Lead RTL design, integration, synthesis, timing closure, and low-power implementation.
  • Specify and develop control, monitoring, telemetry, diagnostics, configuration, sequencing, and protection functions.
  • Develop and review RTL and microarchitecture using Verilog/SystemVerilog and quality-checking tools.
  • Drive verification strategy and execution: test planning, simulation, UVM, assertions, formal, coverage, and regression management.
  • Deliver complete IP packages: RTL, verification collateral, documentation, and requirements traceability.
  • Support silicon debug, characterization, qualification, reliability validation, and production ramp.
  • Mentor junior engineers and improve design methodologies, automation flows, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; desirable items noted.

  • Extensive RTL design expertise using Verilog/SystemVerilog for complex digital and mixed-signal ICs.
  • Strong understanding of digital fundamentals: FSMs, clock-domain crossing (CDC), reset architecture, and low-power design techniques.
  • Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), equivalence checking, DFT, and physical implementation flows.
  • Proven experience with modern verification methodologies including UVM, assertions, formal verification, and coverage-driven verification.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA).
  • Track record of driving development metrics, milestone tracking, coverage/defect metrics, and requirements compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: prior development of digital controllers for PMICs, power management systems, automotive electronics, or industrial applications.

Education Requirements

M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
