RISC-V CPU Design Verification (Multiple Levels) - Pune
QualcommJob Title
RISC-V CPU Design Verification (Multiple Levels)
Role Summary
Qualcomm is hiring verification engineers to develop and execute verification plans for high-performance, low-power RISC-V CPU cores. The role focuses on simulation, formal methods, emulation/FPGA validation and silicon debug while working with architects, RTL designers, software and SoC teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level role; open across multiple experience levels. Typical candidates have roughly 2–8+ years of relevant CPU design/verification experience depending on level.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute verification plans for CPU units and features.
- Create and maintain testbenches, checkers, assertions and stimulus generators using simulation and formal tools.
- Implement assembly and C tests to validate CPU architecture and microarchitecture behavior.
- Integrate and validate use cases with system architects, RTL designers, software and SoC teams.
- Enable and run verification on emulation and FPGA platforms; collaborate with emulation teams.
- Debug and triage failures in simulation, emulation and silicon; characterize root causes and verify fixes.
Requirements
Technical must-haves and preferred skills.
-
Must-have:
- Experience with simulation-based verification and formal techniques; developing testbenches and assertions.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages for test development and automation.
- Hands-on experience with HDLs such as Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Strong understanding of CPU architectures and microarchitecture concepts.
- Experience verifying power-management features (clock gating, power gating, UPF, DVFS/DCVS, throttling, reliability).
- Experience using emulators and FPGA platforms for verification and bring-up.
-
Nice-to-have:
- Industry experience with CPU ISAs (x86, ARM, MIPS, RISC-V, POWER).
- Knowledge of DFT and structural debug (JTAG, IEEE1500, MBIST, scan/memory dump).
- Experience with advanced verification techniques and formal assertion methodologies.
- In-depth digital logic design, microprocessor debug features and DFT architecture knowledge.
Education Requirements
Qualifications listed: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field (with ~2+ years experience); Master’s degree in those fields (with ~1+ year experience); or PhD in a related field. The posting also lists BE/BTech in CS/EE with 4+ years experience. (Equivalent relevant work experience is considered in the posted minimums.)
