Job Title

RFIC Design Intern

Role Summary

Internship within Qorvo's High Performance Analog business group supporting RFIC design projects. The intern will contribute to design, simulation, modeling, and lab verification of RF/mmWave IC building blocks.

Assignments vary with business needs and include hands-on work with circuit simulations and measurement equipment under mentorship.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern position. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a college or university program (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities for this internship include:

  • Contribute to design of RF/mmWave functional blocks (LNAs, PAs, VCOs, mixers, phase shifters, attenuators, switches) and supporting analog/interface circuitry.
  • Perform device and electromagnetic modeling for high-frequency designs.
  • Run circuit and EM simulations and iterate designs to meet performance, power, size, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Develop schematics, perform simulations, and compare simulated results to lab measurements.
  • Use signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, and power meters to validate designs against test data.
  • Work collaboratively within a team and present findings to engineers and managers.

Requirements

Key skills and attributes required or strongly preferred for successful performance:

  • Must-have: Practical familiarity with RF/MMW simulation and design tools (examples: ADS, Cadence).
  • Must-have: Experience or comfort working with circuit-level and EM simulation tools (examples: HFSS, EMX).
  • Must-have: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical results clearly.
  • Must-have: Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter who can manage tasks and schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Hands-on exposure to RF measurement equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters).
  • Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations.

Education Requirements

Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program is required. The posting specifically requests candidates currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on RF/mmW IC design. Minimum GPA expectation noted: 3.3.

Compensation

Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience: $31/hr - $42/hr (subject to change depending on physical location).
