RFIC Design Engineer I
Silicon LabsJob Title
RFIC Design Engineer I
Role Summary
Join the RFIC Design Team to develop RF, analog, and mixed-signal circuits for radio transceivers used in IoT wireless products. Work across the integrated circuit development lifecycle, from concept through implementation and validation.
This role pairs new college graduates with experienced engineers to apply academic knowledge to practical RF design and verification tasks.
Experience Level
Entry-level (new college graduate).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include circuit design, analysis, verification, and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Design and develop RF, analog, and mixed-signal circuits for wireless transceivers.
- Perform circuit analysis, simulation, modeling, and design verification.
- Evaluate design performance against requirements and recommend improvements.
- Support transceiver development from initial concept through implementation and validation.
- Analyze simulation and laboratory data to troubleshoot circuit performance.
- Collaborate with RF, analog, digital, layout, systems, validation, and product teams.
- Document design decisions, test results, and engineering recommendations.
- Develop technical expertise through mentorship and design reviews.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Academic or project experience in RF, analog, or mixed-signal circuit design.
- Understanding of fundamental circuit analysis and design principles.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation, modeling, and design-analysis methods.
- Experience with RF circuit concepts through coursework, research, internships, or project work.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and evaluate circuit performance.
- Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively in engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Internship, co-op, research, or project experience specifically in RF/analog/mixed-signal IC design.
- Exposure to radio transceiver architectures and wireless communication systems.
- Experience with RF measurement, simulation tools, or laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of signal processing principles and common RF concepts (noise, linearity, matching, gain).
- Familiarity with integrated circuit design tools and semiconductor workflows.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required. The posting also expects academic or project experience in RF, analog, or mixed-signal circuit design (coursework, research, internships, or project work).
