EMC Design Engineer (University Grad)
Role Summary
The EMC Design Engineer on Meta's Wearables Product Team focuses on system-level electromagnetic compatibility, EMI, ESD, and related electromagnetics activities for wearable prototypes and consumer products. The role spans simulation, automation, bring-up, validation, and testing to ensure simulation correlates with real-world performance and products meet applicable EMC standards.
Experience Level
Entry-level - targeted at new university graduates. Bachelor’s degree must be completed prior to joining; equivalent practical experience considered.
Responsibilities
Work with cross-functional teams to design, validate, and improve EMC performance across product development stages.
- Contribute to grounding and shielding design, balancing system constraints and compliance requirements.
- Help define design specifications and guidelines with clear risk tradeoffs for cross-functional partners.
- Develop and apply simulation methodology and flows for system-level electromagnetic and multi-physics analysis across DC to RF bands.
- Support design troubleshooting using simulation and lab data; drive failure analysis, root cause, and corrective actions.
- Participate in automation development, bring-up, validation, and testing to improve EMC design quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and conditions for the role.
- Experience with EM simulation and measurement techniques.
- Solid EM fundamentals, including grounding and shielding theory.
- Ability to correlate simulation results with lab measurements and propose corrective actions.
- Familiarity with validation, testing, and product bring-up processes for electromagnetic issues.
- Must obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience integrating AI tools to optimize workflows or redesign processes.
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices and ongoing AI skill development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant technical field is required and must be completed prior to joining; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. Master's or PhD in a related field is preferred.
