Role Summary

Summer internship on the RF Technology Development team to develop automation that supports test-structure creation, PDK and design-manual builds, verification decks, and release processes. The intern will deliver scripts and tools, work on live projects with a mentor, and present results to the team.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (student role).

Responsibilities

Hands-on engineering and automation tasks supporting RF technology development.

  • Write and maintain Python, Shell, and Tcl scripts to automate design-manual generation, validation builds, PDK builds, releases, and regression checks.
  • Build internal tools and dashboards to consolidate spreadsheets and logs into current project-status views.
  • Automate data extraction and reporting from test-site, design-manual, and verification sources.
  • Develop and extend regression test suites to validate kit and deck changes before release.
  • Improve version-control and continuous-integration practices via repeatable builds and reusable scripts.
  • Translate manual engineering workflows into documented, maintainable automation.
  • Own assigned deliverables, collaborate with stakeholders, and present project results at internship close.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and workplace requirements.

  • Comfortable writing Python and able to read and debug others' code.
  • Familiarity with Linux/command-line environments and Git version control.
  • Demonstrated programming interest via projects, coursework, research, or open-source contributions.
  • Ability to decompose loosely defined manual processes into clear implementation steps and code them.
  • English fluency (written and verbal).
  • Availability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior internship or co-op experience and leadership in projects or competitions.
  • Familiarity with Tcl, SKILL, Perl, or Shell in addition to Python.
  • Experience with data-handling libraries (e.g., pandas), plotting, or dashboard tools.
  • Exposure to continuous integration, test automation, build systems, or semiconductor device physics, VLSI design, layout, and CAD flows.
  • Interest in using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity.

Education Requirements

Must be at least a sophomore and actively enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field during the internship. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and in good academic standing is required.
