Job Title

RF Systems Engineer

Role Summary

The RF Systems Engineer will design, simulate, verify, and support the release of RF transceiver products and platforms for advanced wireless technologies. The role works within a systems engineering team and collaborates closely with IC design, modem, and software teams across architecture, specification, simulation, verification, and production stages.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests approximately 5+ years of relevant RF systems or product development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities cover system-level RF design, analysis, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Develop signal-processing techniques for transmit and receive chains.
  • Perform system analysis and simulations using MATLAB, ADS, or similar tools to evaluate architecture and performance under various conditions.
  • Create system-level specifications for RF circuits and subsystems.
  • Define requirements for RF impairments and analyze their impact on system performance.
  • Work closely with IC designers, modem engineers, and software teams to ensure implementations meet system requirements.
  • Participate in design verification, testing, production release, and manufacturing ramp-up activities.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience expected. Degree requirements are listed separately under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of experience in RF product or systems design (candidate should have direct hands-on RF systems experience).
  • Must-have: Strong foundation in communication theory, signal processing, probability, and random processes.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in MATLAB; experience with ADS or similar RF simulation tools is expected.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to drive cross-functional resolution.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with wireless standards and systems such as WLAN, Bluetooth, UWB, and cellular (4G/5G).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with system architecture, RF impairments analysis, and taking products through production release and manufacturing ramp-up.
  • Personal traits: Self-starter, team player, and continuous learner.

Education Requirements

Reported education options in the posting include: M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field (with ~5+ years relevant experience) or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field. The posting's Minimum Qualifications also list alternative combinations: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science/related field with 2+ years of systems-engineering experience; OR Master's degree with 1+ year of systems-engineering experience; OR Ph.D. in a related field. Equivalent practical experience is implied through these degree-plus-experience combinations.
