RF Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and verify RF and analog integrated circuit layouts from floor planning through tape-out. Work within the RF layout team to implement robust, manufacturable layouts for high-frequency blocks and support verification and sign-off activities.

Experience Level

Senior level — 7–12 years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include layout implementation, verification, and project ownership for RF and analog ICs.

• Perform LVS, DRC, ERC, and ESD verifications and resolve layout verification issues.
• Implement layouts for RF/high-frequency blocks (LNAs, mixers, PAs) and general analog circuits (LDOs, bias, bandgaps, op-amps, clock trees).
• Manage full project cycles from floor planning to tape-out.
• Address layout-dependent effects and implement fixes for ESD, latch-up, IR drop, and EM concerns.
• Use and script Calibre (and similar) verification flows for sign-off.
• Collaborate with radio designers and cross-functional teams, including remote collaborators.
• Consider IC packaging impacts on layout and performance.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience for the role.

• 7–12 years of relevant industry experience in analog/RF layout design.
• Strong expertise in LVS, DRC, ERC, and ESD verification and experience with Calibre tools.
• Experience with submicron process technologies (examples: 2nm, 5nm, 7nm, 10nm, 16nm, 28nm).
• Proven record of delivering layouts through floor planning to tape-out.
• Knowledge of RF/high-frequency circuit layout and layout-dependent effects.
• Ability to diagnose and mitigate ESD, latch-up, IR drop, and EM issues; scripting to automate fixes is expected.
• Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to work with distributed teams.
