RF Hardware Engineer

Role Summary

Design and characterize RF switches, resonators, filters and front-end modules for wireless applications. Work with design, integration, test and qualification teams to develop test setups, modeling, and characterization methods for SOI and FBAR/SAW devices across die and module levels.

Experience Level

Mid-level - requires 6+ years of related industry experience.

Responsibilities

Operate independently on complex engineering assignments to develop and validate RF hardware and test methods.

• Develop RF characterization test setups and automation tools for switches, resonators, filters and front-end modules.
• Evaluate high-power, nonlinear and noise performance of RF components and modules.
• Design and synthesize RF filters using acoustic FBAR technologies and develop models for high-Q resonators.
• Perform physical die layout and module PCB design and modeling support.
• Execute 3D EM co-simulation and yield/tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturable designs.
• Implement characterization and qualification plans; review results, generate reports, and provide feedback to global design, quality, and processing teams.
• Participate in R&D activities and resolve technical issues with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted.

• In-depth proficiency in RF/EM engineering and semiconductor physics.
• Expertise with RF/EM and circuit simulation tools such as ADS and HFSS; experience with Cadence and Allegro SiP.
• Experience with finite element modeling across piezoelectric, acoustic, thermo-mechanical and RF domains.
• Strong understanding of small-signal linear behavior, nonlinearities, harmonics, intermodulation, high-power RF and noise measurement concepts.
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment: spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, DC supplies, load-pull systems, probe stations, and RF components (couplers, filters, duplexers, amplifiers, isolators).
• Programming skills in Python and MATLAB (required) for analysis and automation.
• Proficiency troubleshooting test benches and RF instrumentation.
• Nice-to-have: experience with test and instrumentation automation, and filter/switch/PCB/die layout design and modeling.
• Strong organizational skills, ownership and a team-oriented attitude.

Education Requirements

Master's or PhD in Engineering; 6+ years of related experience required. PhD preferred.
