RF Hardware Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Provide application support for TI's automotive connectivity products (Bluetooth Low Energy, Ultra-wideband, TI WBMS protocol) focused on Car Access, Wireless Battery Management Systems (WBMS) and Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). Work with customers to diagnose problems, optimize designs, and support product ramp and manufacturing while performing hands-on RF lab development.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Respond to customer technical questions via forums, email and on-site visits; provide design-in support.
- Perform schematic and PCB layout reviews and debug customer hardware using evaluation boards and customer boards.
- Design, develop and characterize RF development kits (LaunchPads), EVMs and RF reference designs.
- Test and optimize RF performance in a high-end RF lab; run EM simulations and analyze baluns, filtering, transmission lines and impedance matching.
- Develop and optimize RF PHYs and provide RF/hardware technical expertise to sales and customers.
- Create technical documentation including application notes, user guides, design notes and white papers.
- Deliver internal and customer training and represent technical findings at events and meetings.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (design, system engineering, software, business) and build customer relationships.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications (education items are summarized below):
- Must-have: 3+ years of applications engineering experience supporting wireless or embedded devices.
- Must-have: Strong hardware and software debugging skills and ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
- Must-have: Hands-on RF testing and characterization experience; comfortable working in an RF lab and reproducing/debugging customer issues on evaluation or customer boards.
- Must-have: Authorized to work in the United States; Texas Instruments will not sponsor visas or work authorization for this position.
- Preferred: Experience with RF PCB design tools (Cadence, Altium), RF test equipment (spectrum/network analyzers, load-pull), and simulation tools (ADS, Ansys).
- Preferred: Knowledge of Bluetooth/BLE, Ultra-wideband or proprietary wireless networks and RF PHY development.
- Preferred: Automotive industry experience (OEM or Tier 1), battery management systems experience, regulatory/EMC testing, antenna design, and familiarity with ISO 26262/functional safety.
- Preferred: Embedded C or Python programming skills; strong written and verbal communication in English; time-management and analytical problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred for senior/experienced candidates).
